Shooting Test
In order to hunt big game (Moose, Red deer, Reindeer, Roe deer,
Wild boa, Musk Ox, Bear, Wolf, Wolverine, Lynx) with a rifle
hunters must have a Norwegian game hunting license and need
to pass a yearly shooting test.
Before taking the test the applicant
has to prove that 30 obligatory shots have been fired. For
every rifle the applicant wants to use for hunting the test
has to be passed. To pass the rifle
shooting test the applicant needs to place 5 of 5 shots within
a circle with 30 cm in diameter. The circle is visible on the
target (animal figure), but not from the firing point. The distance
to the target is 100 m. The applicant can fire from any position
without a fixed rest. The ammunition must be the same as used
when hunting. Applicants with combo weapons and double barreled
rifles only have to place 3 of 3 shots within the circle.
Persons with no permanent address in
Norway don't require a shooting test if they have a permit to
hunt big game in there home country. This permit or other proof
must be carried when hunting and shown to the landowners, persons
acting on behalf of the landowners or game wardens when requested.
